As far as I can remember, I have always had the desire to pursue a higher education in the healthcare. I had a great interest in Human Biology, Physiology and Metabolism. It was always very fascinating to me to understand the way nutrients have an influence in each one of these areas and how can we “play” with those influences using the food we eat. Nutrition Science was my first and only choice at the time I went to the university.
Since then, I have had the unique opportunity to work with and learn from excellent professionals, in various areas of nutrition, from the clinical environment at Hospital de Santa Maria, to intervention in the community at Regional Health Administration of the Algarve and at the Health Care Centre of Faro.
Clinical Nutrition became the main aspect of my professional activity, and I have opted to continue studying in this area. I believe it is essential to enrich, even more, any nutrition consultation.
As a Dietitian, and because I particularly enjoy the sharing of knowledge, I have mainly worked in Nutrition Consultations and in Training, namely in Sports Nutrition.
To me, being a Dietitian is being able to make someone happier. It is about teamwork, supporting and inspiring the ones who are looking for a better version of themselves.
